PANAJI: Goa BJP president Damu Naik has questioned Rahul Gandhi’s silence on the Mhadei issue, stating that the Congress leader should have clearly outlined his stand on the matter. Naik also criticised Congress observers and central leaders, including Karnataka Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, for allegedly remaining silent on an issue of importance to Goa.
Accusing Congress leaders of misleading the people, Naik said Goans are well-informed and understand the Mhadei issue, asserting that they cannot be taken for granted by visiting political leaders.
In another strong remark, Naik said Rahul Gandhi was not worthy of the valour shown to him. He emphasised that public figures must uphold dignity and respect elders, Goan culture and traditions. Naik also maintained that the Goy Rakhonn Yatra would not affect the BJP, adding that the state government is committed to protecting Goa’s cultural heritage.
On statements made by BJP leaders, Naik said the party follows its own process and stressed that everyone must exercise restraint in their public remarks.
He cautioned that statements made without due consideration could have the opposite effect, urging ministers and party members to maintain discipline and responsibility in their communication.
