Aam Aadmi Party extended support to Children of Freedom Fighters protesting at Azad Maidan. The delegation met freedom fighters Shri Suresh Parodkar and Shri Nagesh Chari who have started a fast-unto-death after the Pramod Sawant Govt continued dent the jobs and benefits that were promised to the children of freedom fighters.
AAP leader Valmiki Naik lamented that even after sacrificing so much to give us freedom from foreign rule, our freedom fighters were forced to risk their lives yet again, that too for something that was rightfully due to them.
Naik slammed the Sawant Govt for making grand announcements of 10,000 Govt jobs just prior to the ZP election, but not bothering to give just 100 out of these to the children of the freedom fighters as promised by the BJP Govt itself in 2013.
Naik criticised the Govt for making the freedom fighters and their children continue to protest even after they have waited for so many decades after liberation. Naik stated that Sawant was only interested in splurging hundreds of crores of borrowed money and doing self-promotion in the name of Liberation Day, but was least interested in alleviating the plight of those who sacrificed their family’s well-being and children’s future to help achieve freedom from foreign rule.
Naik demanded that the CM personally visit the freedom fighters at Azad Maidan with a written assurance to fulfill all the demands of the Children of Freedom Fighters, otherwise he would be personally responsible for any deterioration of health of the 80-85 year old freedom fighters who are fasting.
