Aam Aadmi Party wholeheartedly supports the Bharat Bandh call given by the farmers and urged the people to also support the poor struggling farmers against the autocratic Narendra Modi government who is only bothered about serving his rich business friends.
AAP Goa convener Rahul Mhambre said the poor farmers toil day and night bearing all weather conditions to provide food for people even though many times they themselves have to stay hungry and said such strugglers need the support of each and every right thinking Indian.
He said the farmers are totally justified in calling for an all India bandh as the ruling government is not even willing to listen to them as can be seen in the fact the government has had five rounds of talks which have not provided any tangible results.
He pointed out how the Delhi police which is controlled by the BJP were pressurising the Delhi govt to use city’s stadium as temporary prisons to lock up farmers. He said that inspite of the tremendous pressure, kejriwal did not budge and refused to permit the police to use delhi stadiums as prisons.
“They are our ‘annadatta’ who toil in the hot sun so that we get food on our table but this govt of modi is trying to make them bonded labourers of his corporate friends” said Rahul
He also pointed out that all political parties including allies of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the National Democratic Government are supporting the farmers in their protest and have endorsed the Bharat Bandh.
Rahul said the farmer’s fear that the support price they have been getting from the government which is a mean to encourage agriculture will be removed following the farm acts which are totally anti farmers and poor and aimed at promoting the interest of the business houses specially large business conglomerates.
“In Goa we have an example of the sanjivani sugar factory where sawant govt is not cognisant of the problems of the goan farmers. The bjp both at centre and state is anti farmer and their focus and attention is only to please their few corporate friends”
Rahul also pointed out that Narendra Modi’s ministers indirectly admit that the farmers are justified as Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar declaring that three major provisions of the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act likely to be amended. Minister of State for Agriculture Kailash Choudhary while asserting that there will be no repeal of any Act did say that amendments to the acts are possible.
“When the ministers agree to amendments what is holding back the government from carrying out the same?” he asked while asserting that all this is being done at the behest of the business houses that is running the Modi government to act against the people of India.
He said AAP volunteers in Delhi are working continuously to help the farmers agitating there for days now. “AAP volunteers are providing meals to the farmers who are camped in Delhi now besides also looking after their other needs like medical facilities,” he said adding that even water is provided to the agitating farmers by AAP.
He appealed to Goans to support the agitating farmers who toil selflessly in all weather so that Indians can get their grain and food on plate without the intervention of business conglomerate who will try to monopolise agriculture making it very expensive to purchase the daily requirement of even atta in the market.
