VERNA: Days after the horrific Verna accident, the Traffic department has begun inspecting alco-meter tests at private companies that already have a system in place.
As per the information, the department will also write to the IDC Chairman and MD to ensure all companies comply with the advisory.

The Buildings and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996, the Rules, and the Labour Act are the legal frameworks that Martins has requested to be examined in order to determine whether any action against the PWD and the contract is required. This request has been made in a separate communication to the RLC (Central).
In order to process the case under the Employees Compensation Act, he said, “You are also requested to furnish a copy of the licences and registration certificates obtained by the contractor and the principal employer along with documents submitted for registration.”
