Jaipur: Kyle Jamieson has been penalised for his on-field conduct during an Indian Premier League clash, receiving one demerit point for an aggressive send-off directed at teenage batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
The incident occurred early in the match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, when Jamieson dismissed the 15-year-old and followed it up with a confrontational reaction. The action was deemed to be in violation of the league’s code of conduct, specifically relating to behaviour that could provoke an aggressive response from another player. The pacer accepted the offence and the sanction imposed.
The disciplinary action came in a match that ultimately saw Delhi Capitals produce a standout performance to defeat Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets.
Batting first, Rajasthan Royals posted a formidable 225 for 6, powered by an impressive 90 from Riyan Parag and a rapid unbeaten 47 from Donovan Ferreira. However, Mitchell Starc made key breakthroughs to restrict further damage.
In response, Delhi Capitals executed a record chase with confidence. KL Rahul led from the front with a fluent 75 off 40 balls, while Pathum Nissanka contributed 62 off 33. Their 110-run opening partnership set a strong platform for the chase.
The finishing touches were applied calmly by Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma, who ensured the target was reached with five balls to spare. The victory marked the highest successful run chase in Delhi Capitals’ IPL history, adding further significance to an eventful contest.
