CANACONA: Each of the members attending the gramsabha, were given 2 kgs of manure free of costs produced from the waste collected in the village at the panchayats garbage plant on Sunday.
Earlier, the gramsabha deliberated on the various developmental works and also passed resolutions on a few. Sarpanch Fatima Rodrigues informed that eight tenders of developmental works including gutters, roads constructions, and blacking topping of roads at Parvem, Mudkud, Karashirmoll, Mudcheli,aamongst a few areas.
Some residents raised the stray dogs menace particularly on the beachfronts at Dhavalkhazan side is very menacing and needs to be addressed, with the sarpanch assuring to look into the problem.
Panchayat Secretary Amol Naikgaunkar informed the members that the panchayat took some giant steps in addressing the garbage problem and had even installed to modern plant to process the wet garbage.
‘The one provided by government consumes a forthnight to process, but agonda panchcyat engaged a privately operated and a innovative machiniery which process wet garbage alomost on daily basis. We, have more than a ton of manure proceesed from wet garbage ready for usage.
and taking advantage of International Day for Biological Diversity, panchayat is to set up kiosk to sell our own produced Manure on 22nd May at a very cheap rate. People can buy it and used the same for their gardens and other plantations.
We have engaged special labour for garbage collections and also to operate the Balling machine. They helps to keep the streets, roads and some of the dark spots which some unscrupulous people regularly dumps their garbage neat and clean’. Some members also raised the issue of speedbreakers and road-signs, as well as advertisement boards issue.
Later, most of the members present for the gramsabha were handed over 2kgs of manure produced at the village garbage plant free of cost.
While Ramnath Velip and Nilesh Pagi skipped the gramsabha, Dy. Sarpanch Preetal Fernandes, Canisha Fernandes, Karuna Phaldessai and John Fernandes were present with Biva Velip a representative observer of BDO Canacona.
