PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that Blue taxi registrations at Mopa Airport will commence by the end of this month.
“Blue taxi registrations at Mopa Airport will commence by the end of this month. Director of Transport will issue a notification for a blue taxi on the lines of Yellow and Black taxis to facilitate registration of Blue taxis in the state,” said Sawant.
He further said an agreement will be signed between the Blue taxi Association and GMR, after which 100 to 200 blue taxis will be deployed at Mopa Airport.
He said these cabs would be exclusively owned by locals of Pernem taluka, where the airport is located.
In addition to Blue Cabs, the airport will also have taxis affiliated with Goa Miles App and those registered under the state-run Goa Taxi App, he said.
Greenfield Mopa Airport Taxi Association, Mopa Airport Local Taxi Association and Mopa Airport Taxi Association alleged that the State government is trying to create a divide between the taxi owners from Pernem and Mopa.
They had further said that the Goa government would introduce an app-based taxi service by taking all the stakeholders into confidence, but we want something other than an app-based taxi service.
