PANAJI: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is taking healthcare to a whole new level in Goa, with Health Minister Vishwajit Rane announcing the implementation of AI-powered lung cancer screening tools across all District Hospitals and Primary Health Centres (PHCs).
This move is part of the state government’s comprehensive approach towards cancer care, which includes early detection, accessible treatment, and advanced methodologies.
In a recent post on social media, Rane highlighted how Goa has emerged as a leader in cancer care, emphasizing the importance of early detection in improving patient outcomes.
He mentioned that the state-run PHCs already offer free breast cancer screening, ensuring timely intervention for those at risk.
Additionally, the renowned Goa Medical College provides the Pertuzumab-Trastuzumab combo therapy free of cost for HER2+ breast cancer patients, further demonstrating the government’s commitment to providing quality care to its residents.
Looking to the future, Rane shared exciting news about the upcoming Multi-Super-Specialty Cancer Hospital, which is being developed in collaboration with Tata Memorial. This state-of-the-art facility will provide top-tier care to cancer patients in the region, ensuring they have access to the latest treatments and technologies.
In line with the government’s dedication to innovation and cutting-edge healthcare solutions, AI-powered lung cancer screening tools will soon be available at all District Hospitals and PHCs in Goa, he said.
These tools utilize artificial intelligence to analyze medical imaging and identify potential signs of lung cancer, allowing for earlier detection and intervention.
