Pernem: Babu Ajgaonkar Defends Track Record, Says Public Trust Built on 25 Years of Development Work
Former minister Babu Ajgaonkar has strongly defended his long political career, stating that his electoral success over the past 25 years is rooted in consistent development work and public trust rather than political rhetoric.
Addressing criticisms from opponents, Ajgaonkar said he had been actively working in public life long before many current leaders entered politics. He claimed that his focus throughout his tenure as a councillor and MLA has remained on delivering tangible development rather than making empty promises.
He asserted that his constituency has repeatedly supported him in elections because of his visible work on the ground, particularly in infrastructure and employment. “People vote based on development, not money or influence,” he said, adding that his record reflects consistent service to the public.
Responding to suggestions that he step aside from active politics, Ajgaonkar said such remarks do not reflect the people’s sentiment. He maintained that voters continue to expect experienced leadership and sustained development, especially from those who have served for decades.
He also rejected allegations raised by political opponents regarding land-related issues and administrative decisions, calling them politically motivated. According to him, development projects undertaken during his tenure were carried out transparently and with public support.
Ajgaonkar further claimed that employment generation has been a key priority in his work and that many local youth have benefited from initiatives undertaken during his tenure. He said that his political journey has been built step by step through repeated public approval.
He added that attempts to discredit his work will not change public perception, as voters are aware of who has delivered results and who has only engaged in criticism.
Reaffirming his commitment, Ajgaonkar said he will continue to serve the people as long as public support remains, emphasising that “true politics is measured by work, not words.”
