PANAJI: Goa recorded a major milestone in this year’s International Yoga Day celebrations, with registrations across the State crossing the one lakh mark, reflecting growing public interest in wellness and healthy living.
The celebrations witnessed widespread participation, with yoga programmes being organised at numerous locations by various organisations, government departments and community groups.
According to official figures, a total of 1,230 venues were registered by Patanjali Yog Samiti, NGOs and other organisations for conducting Yoga Day activities. Additionally, more than 80 programmes were organised at party and constituency levels, while the Department of Sports facilitated events at 12 venues. Several other yoga sessions were also conducted under the aegis of the Department of Ayush.
Officials said the overwhelming response highlights increasing awareness among people about the role of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental wellness and spiritual well-being.
The large-scale participation has made this year’s International Yoga Day celebrations among the most extensive and inclusive ever held in Goa.
The Government of Goa expressed gratitude to all organisations, volunteers, educational institutions and citizens who contributed to the success of the event and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting yoga and healthy lifestyles across the State.
