PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today clarified that all police station across the state are equipped with CCTV cameras.
He also urged media not to file wrong news articles related to the police station CCTV issue.
“I want to clarify today that all police stations across the state are equipped with CCTV’s and I urge the media not to publish wrong news regarding this matter,” said CM Sawant during Cabinet briefing
The Goa Human Rights Commission had issued notice to the State Government regarding failure to implement Supreme Court order on installing the CCTVs in the police station based on a news report published.
It further said that the State Government had been dragging its feet over compliance with highly placed sources claiming that lack of funds is the reason.
The Apex Court had ordered all States and Union Territories to compulsorily install CCTV with night vision facilities in all Police Stations with provisions for storing recorded data.
