PANAJI: MGP Supremo Sudin Dhavalikar today clarified rumours and announced that his party will not have an alliance with the BJP, Congress or the NCP in the coming 2022 election.
“We are firm that we will not have any alliance with the BJP as they have humiliated us four times as they threw us out of the alliance midway. At some moment, we have to stop this. Also, we are not forging any alliance with Congress or NCP,” Sudin clarified
He further said that MGP is not in favour of having an alliance with any national party for the upcoming assembly elections slated for February 2022.
“The MGP, one of the state’s oldest regional political parties, had allied with the BJP in the 2012 polls and was part of an alliance government led by then Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar,” he said.
Sudin said that the party has its work in 12 constituencies where it will be fielding the candidates, but the number can go up to 24.
Dhavalikar also said the party will promote young leaders in all constituencies and added that they will work under the guidance of the senior leaders of MGP.
“Our parliamentary committee will decide on alliance and other issues, but I am confident that we are not going for an alliance with BJP,” Sudin added.
He further said that MGP, after forming the government in 2022, will implement the pending New Education Policy and the New Motor Vehicle Policy.
“The state government does not have the guts to implement this, and we will do this once we form,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sudin said that students living in remote pockets in the state were left high and dry with no mobile connectivity, especially in hilly terrain like Sanguem, Quepem, Sattari.
“Some parents cannot even afford to buy books, and how will they afford to buy a costly smartphone and pay for mobile recharge for online classes,” asked Dhavalikar.
“Does the State government not want students from a poor background and rural areas to do well in their studies?” he said.
