VELSAO: Claiming anarchy, Former MLA Alina Saldanha said that there was no place for law in Goa.
“There is anarchy happening in Goa because works of a large magnitude are being carried out in private lands without the consent of the land owners,” said said Saldanha
She further said that the railways authorities are claiming that a stone indicates that land belongs to railway authorities which is baseless because they need to have land documents to prove their ownerships and work is going on despite objections by land owners,” said Saldanha
She request the Government to step in and check the situation in Velsao and take necessary action after finding ou the truth by setting up a commitee to carry out an inspection.”
“The government must carry out a survey to find out the impact of these tracks on the houses and the people who are suffering amd there is news that there could be a third track here. Matanhy Saldanha which is my own house is 450 years old and i am also a victim but i am thinking of the people in this area because every house and every life is important ” said Saldanha
Velsao Sarpanch Diana Gouveia said that the panchayat had taken every effort to act against the double tracking works but it had fallen on deaf ears.
“I feel the Dy Collector and Railways nust come on the ground and prove it to the people that the land belongs to them and the problem is over. The locals come every now and then to catch hold of me when there Is an issue which is not in my hand. The only persons who can solve the issue is RVNL and Dy but i am always with the people and will continue to oppose the double tracking works which is not wanted by this village.
“We have made several letters and we even met them but the Railways are saying that the land belongs to them. The police are asking us to demarcate the area which is not our duty and we have even taken mang resolutions against this project that has fallen on deaf ears ” said Gouveia
