PANAJI: The opening day of the Ulhas Jewellers BPS Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2026 witnessed an exciting display of young talent, with Anaya Shukla, Tvisha Kotkar, Vanlalhriatpuii and Shaurya Dessai advancing to the Girls Under 11 semi finals at the Multipurpose Stadium in Fatorda.
Organised by BPS Sports Club under the aegis of the Goa Table Tennis Association and powered by Ulhas Jewellers, the tournament got off to a competitive start with several closely fought matches across age categories.
Anaya Shukla secured her place in the last four with a dominant 3-0 victory over Tasha Mascarenhas. Tvisha Kotkar survived a tough challenge from Claire George, winning an entertaining five game contest 3-2. Vanlalhriatpuii produced another convincing performance to defeat Ronisha Sakhardande 3-0, while Shaurya Dessai completed the semi final lineup after overcoming Sanaz Shaikh by the same margin.
The Girls Under 9 category also produced impressive performances as Claire George and Spruha Kamat booked their places in the final.
Claire earned a bye into the semi finals before defeating Swara Gude in straight games 3-0 to secure her spot in the title clash. Spruha also enjoyed a commanding semi final, beating Ronisha Sakhardande 3-0 to set up the championship encounter against Claire.
Earlier in the quarter finals, Swara Gude defeated Hanishka Chonkar 3-1 to advance, while Spruha Kamat edged past Taisha Mehta in a thrilling five game battle with a 3-2 victory. Ronisha Sakhardande also progressed after overcoming Alessandra Fernandes 3-1.
With several promising youngsters producing standout performances on the opening day, the tournament has set the stage for an exciting finish as players compete for top honours in Goa’s premier ranking table tennis event.
