PANAJI: Gajanan Tilve and Calisto Fernandes, accused of assaulting Dr. Inacio Fernandes during Anjuna gram sabha, have been released on bail after being arrested by Anjuna police.
During a conversation about a major event, Inacio Fernandes claimed that Tilve and Calisto had assaulted him.
Even though police were there to make sure the gram sabha was held in a peaceful manner, he was nonetheless attacked.
Civil society organizations had strong reactions to the attack during the gram sabha proceedings, calling for the attackers to be taken into custody right away.
Villagers, supported by civil society organizations, have been leading a campaign in recent months to reduce noise pollution in the hamlet, which is primarily caused by the clubs’ loud late-night music.
