PANAJI: The annual Directory 2026–2027 of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman was released on Sunday, August 23, by Archbishop Patriarch Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao and Auxiliary Bishop Most Rev. Simiao Fernandes at the Archbishop’s House.
The release was held in the presence of Fr. Barry Cardozo, Director of the Diocesan Centre for Social Communications Media (DCSCM), Sr. Rita Frois hc, and Communications Centre staff members Janet Barcellos and Romualdo Fernandes.
Congratulating Fr. Barry Cardozo and the DCSCM team, the Archbishop said he hoped the Directory would reach as many faithful as possible and help them access essential contact details of churches and Catholic institutions across the Archdiocese.
Linking the publication to the Archdiocese’s pastoral-year theme, “Abide in Me”, Cardinal Ferrao expressed the hope that the Directory would serve as an aid for the faithful to come closer to the Church and thereby deepen their call to abide in Christ.
Auxiliary Bishop Simiao Fernandes, in his message, said the Directory could serve as a valuable tool for people to remain connected with one another as they journey in synodality towards the fulfilment of their common mission.
Fr. Barry Cardozo expressed gratitude to the Archbishop-Patriarch and Auxiliary Bishop for their constant support and guidance. He also thanked Fr. Loiola Pereira and Fr. Romeo Monteiro for their assistance in editing the publication, along with the clergy, New Age Printers and the Communications Centre staff.
Referring to Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical Magnifica Humanitas, Fr. Barry said the Directory could be used as a practical sourcebook to strengthen human encounter, protect youth and families, and reach out to vulnerable sections of society by making use of the institutional information contained in it.
The publication provides detailed information about the Church in Goa, covering parishes in Goa and the far-off Mission of Daman, which includes the Union Territories of Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Diu. It also contains information on religious institutes for women and men, educational institutions, technical schools and various services offered by the Archdiocese to society.
The Directory will soon be followed by another publication containing historical details of churches in Goa.
The Directory 2026–2027 will be available from next week at the Lighthouse in Margao, Pauline Book and Media Centres in Panjim and Mapusa, the Pastoral Institute at Old Goa, the Archbishop’s House at Altinho, Panjim, and selected parishes across Goa.
