PANAJI: Kala Rakhonn Mandd will observe one year since the slab collapse of the Open Air Auditorium of Kala Academy on Wednesday, 17 July, artistically through performances of various art forms based on the theme “The Cry.”
The half-an-hour programme will be held at the gate of Kala Academy at 6 pm since the Kala Academy authorities have restrained the artists from having the performances on the stage of the Open Air Auditorium.
A delegation with a formal letter in this regard met the Member Secretary of Kala Academy on Monday, requesting him to respect the artists’ sentiments. However, he wrote today, stating that the stage area is presently restricted to the public.
Thus, the Kala Rakhonn Mandd has decided to stage their performances at the gate of Kala Academy to pay their artistic tribute.
The tribute through performances would primarily highlight the suffocation of Goa’s artists, who are crying over the damage to government-run cultural institutions caused by rampant corruption and the authorities’ indifferent attitude towards art and culture.
The programme is open to the public, and the KRM has appealed to all the art lovers of Goa to join the artists in paying the artistic tribute.
