PANAJI: The Prime accused in the Assagao demolition case, Pooja Sharma today accused the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and his legislative colleagues Michael and Delilah Lobo of interfering in the investigation.
Sharma, during a hearing before the court in the anticipatory plea, said that with the interference of CM and MLAs, the probe is no more independent.
She also told Court that the government is forcing police to arrest her.
“Police are misrepresenting her and abusing the system against her because some politicians are involved,” Sharma said.
The Crime Branch (CB) is fabricating an excuse to request her detention. Do you follow the orders of your political boss, the Goa Police? She can’t be the mastermind, how? What proof do you have?” asked Desai.
The CB claimed it was a well-thought-out operation and named Sharma as the kingpin and brains behind the whole drama.. Desai also brought the CB’s abrupt decision to document conspirator Arshad Khawaja’s magistrate statement under section 164 CrPC to the Court’s attention.
The lawyer claimed that even though Khawaja was the supposed mastermind, he was being ignored.
The title documents are with Sharma. The Agarwadekar family was not residing at the land when the sale document was executed, therefore she paid to purchase it from the original owner. Permit them (CB) to identify the property’s owners on file. Desai said, “If the police are protecting Agarwadekar, then they are up to no good.”
He further disclosed that the Agarwadekar family was allowed to buy the property and occupy the house on behalf of two Dutch nationals, despite only having a few selective invoices in their name.
Desai claimed that the third summons he received from Goa Police on July 4 was sent on purpose, even though he had asked for extra time to participate in the investigation.
Pooja Sharma, one of the accused in the Assagao house demolition case, on July 1, filed an anticipatory bail application before the North Goa District and Sessions Court, Panjim.
Five of the accused arrested for their alleged involvement in the Assagao house demolition reported on June 22, were released on conditional bail by the Mapusa Court, on Tuesday.
