New Delhi: The United Forum of Bank Unions has deferred its planned three day nationwide bank strike following an eleventh hour meeting with the Indian Banks’ Association on Sunday night. The strike was scheduled to begin on Monday and was expected to disrupt banking services across the country. New Delhi: The Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognisance of a series of recent rape cases reported in Delhi and the National Capital Region, including the alleged gang rape of a minor on a moving sleeper bus. The court observed that the incidents bore “painful parallels” with the 2012 Nirbhaya case and raised concerns over failures in ensuring public safety. New Delhi: Tension escalated in Ujjain on Monday as protesters and police clashed near the Shahi Masjid over a proposal to remove part of the mosque for a road widening project.
