Mormugao Municipal Council councillor Pascoal D’Souza, brother of NCP president Jose Philip D’Souza, succumbed to the COVID19. Pascoal became the 7th victim of the deadly disease in the State. The councillor, of Mangor hill, was admitted in MPT Covid Care Centre and was shifted to COVID hospital at Margao after his condition worsened. He was later shifted in ICU and was on ventilator support.

With two deaths and 108 new cases, most in a day, the State’s tally of confirmed cases has reached 1684 on Saturday. Goa reported the fifth death of a COVID-19 patient on Friday, when a 75-year-old woman succumbed to the virus at the COVID hospital. The State on Friday reported its second-highest single-day increase in cases, with 94 persons testing positive from 2,703 sample reports that arrived on Friday. A day earlier, on Thursday, the State had recorded it highest single-day spike with 95 cases. With Friday’s addition of 94, the confirmed cases now stand at 1,576, of which 800 are active and 772 have recovered from the virus.
