New Delhi: The Supreme Court has held that the right to access and use the internet is protected under Articles 21 and 19(1)(a) of the Constitution, clarifying that children are entitled to the same fundamental protections and cannot be denied internet access altogether. A bench of Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice K Vinod Chandran said children’s safety and freedom were not mutually exclusive. New Delhi: India has strongly rejected a report by United Nations Special Rapporteur Gina Romero alleging that young people in the country face retaliation, stigma and repression for raising issues such as mental health and gender justice.
