PORVORIM: Porvorim police have seized four stolen motorcycles valued at Rs 4 lakh and apprehended a gang involved in temple burglaries and two-wheeler thefts.
A Royal Enfield Himalaya motorcycle worth Rs 1.5 lakh was stolen on January 19 at around 1.10 am, according to Saurabh Dessai of PDA Colony, Porvorim, who filed a complaint with Porvorim police, according to North Goa SP Akshat Kaushal.
Inspector Rahul Parab of Porvorim Police established a police team to look into the matter after receiving the complaint. The police squad discovered and detained Lalit Nanu Vaigankar (19) of Sodiem-Siolim at Ankale in Khanapur, Karnataka, with the aid of CCTV footage and after gathering information.
Two motorcycles were found on him by the police: a KTM Duke that had been stolen from Mapusa and a Himalayan (Royal Enfield) that had been taken from Porvorim.
The accused revealed during questioning that he and other individuals had stolen an Aprilia scooter from Assonora, and that the scooter had been found on him.
According to authorities, another Yamaha motorcycle that had been stolen from Sawantwadi, Maharashtra, was also found during the inquiry.
Two more suspects in this crime are being sought by Porvorim police.
According to reports, Vaigankar also revealed that they were part of a January 16 temple break-in at Moira, and that two accused people and a young kid are connected to this crime.
