PANAJI: The High Court of Bombay at Goa today has asked the Crime Branch to submit a detailed accident report to the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal for additional compensation in addition to the amount of Rs 2 deposited by car owner in the Banastari Fatal accident case.
The High Court also asked the Crime Branch to submit a detailed reports to the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal within a time span of 60 days.
The Court also said that Divar’s Phadte family & Arup Karmakar’s parents will receive Rs 50 lakh.
Further, Raj Majgaonkar to get Rs 25 lakhs; Shankar Harlankar Rs 40 lakh & Vanita Bhandari to get Rs 35 lakh.
High Court had granted bail to Paresh Sawardekar, accused in the Banastari accident case, after Crime Branch declared there was no need for custody.
Paresh would be required to surrender his passport, stay within the state’s limits and cooperate with police when needed.
High Court had earlier issued a ruling requiring Meghana Sawardekar to deposit a sum of ₹2 crore with the court.
This ruling came as a response to Sawardekar’s plea challenging the summons issued by the Mardol police.
Meghana and her son underwent an extensive three-hour questioning session in front of the Ponda Magistrate.
On August 6, three persons were killed and three others sustained critical injuries after a speeding Mercedes rammed into three cars and two two-wheelers while heading towards Panaji on the Banastari bridge in Ponda taluka, around 17 km from here.
After the accident, the people present at the site told reporters that a woman was driving the car.
However, the police had arrested Paresh Sinai Sawardekar (48) — husband of the woman Meghana Sawardekar. Later, the court granted conditional bail to the couple.
