PANAJI: The High Court has directed Israeli national Yaniv Benaim, alias Atala, to surrender before the trial court by September 16 in connection with a 2025 drugs case.
Atala has been absconding after the North Goa Special NDPS Court rejected his fresh bail application. Following his failure to appear, the trial court issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against him.
The High Court has scheduled September 21 for hearing Atala’s petition challenging the lower court’s dismissal of his bail plea. The direction to surrender comes while his challenge against the bail rejection remains pending before the High Court.
