PANAJI: The High Court of Bombay at Goa today granted conditional bail to Banastari Fatal Accident accused Paresh Sawardekar.
The HC has asked Paresh Sawardekar to deposit his passport to the investigation authority and that he should leave the state.
During the hearing, the Advocate for the Crime Branch told the High Court that evidences collected have indicated that Paresh Sawardekar was driving the Mercedes car.
The Crime Branch Adv also told the High Court that further custody of Paresh Sawardekar was not required.
The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Monday had adjourned to August 24 the hearing in the bail plea of Paresh Sinai Sawardekar, the accused driver of the Mercedes car that was involved in the horrific accident in Banastarim.
The accused had moved the High Court seeking urgent hearing of his bail matter.
The accident on the Banastari bridge, which has been attributed to rash, negligent and drunken driving, had claimed three lives.
The government has handed over the case to the crime branch.
The statement of the car owner Meghna Sawardekar was recorded before the magistrate in Ponda on Monday as per the request of the investigating officer of the crime branch.
Recording of the statement went on for almost three hours, sources said, adding that one child, out of three children present in the car, was also present during the recording of the statement.
