PANAJI: The Cybercrime Cell of the Goa police has detained a 29-year-old Bangalore man for allegedly extorting a Chimbel woman and engaging in cyberbullying and sexual harassment under the guise of offering her a job in an Abu Dhabi bank.
After setting up a trap, the accused Mohan Raj V was taken into custody in Bangalore. Mohan and his associates advertised a fictitious position with a large salary at an Abu Dhabi bank.
The Chimbel woman who replied to the post was tricked into going to an online video interview where they forced her to take off her clothes and recorded the encounter. Later, he started extorting her for sexual favors and using her as a blackmail target.
If she didn’t come to Bangalore, he threatened to make her images and videos viral. The woman claimed in her complaint that she endured the situation for more than two months before calling the police on April 30.
Cybercrime Unit The victim was asked by the police to let the accused know that she would be meeting him in Bangalore. The victim was taken to Bangalore by the police after they set the trap. When the accused came to meet the victim, they arrested him.
He has admitted to the crime, according to the police. He has been hit with penalties under sections 66E and 67A of the Information Technology Act, as well as sections 354A (sexual harassment) and 384 (extortion) of the Indian Penal Code.
