MAPUSA: The Bardez Bazar, a popular weekly market in North Goa, has been embroiled in a conflict between its outgoing chairman and board members. A no-confidence motion was passed against Nikhil Khalap, citing dissatisfaction with his functioning and allegations that he pushed proposals without seeking their confidence.
As the outgoing chairperson of the Bardez Bazar Association, Khalap expressed deep sadness over the events. He denied allegations of mismanaging market funds, favoritism in allotting stalls, and failure to maintain proper accounts, calling them “false and baseless.”
Despite the conflict, the Bardez Bazar Association plans to revamp the market with a Rs 50 lakh infrastructure upgrade. The upgrade aims to improve parking, drainage, and lighting.
