The MLA along with Deputy Collector, Panch and other members conducted a site inspection of the area.
“Firstly the authorities are working on checklist of structures which are obstructing the flow of water near the Mapusa-Bastora Tar bridge flyover on the Bastora side. We have to see the legality first,” said Adv Ferreira.
He further said that they have a pro active plan to stop the flooding in the area.
“Have identified shops here which are elevated thus preventing the flow of water. Checklist will be made of the structures so that we know that it is legal or illegal and action will be initiated,” he added
MLA said that work of gutters will be immediately done by the PWD and strict action will be take against whoever tries to object the work.
“We have to look at the goodwill of the citizens and not just once individual,” he added
The dangerous road stretch of around 200 metres at the ‘Y’ junction at Bastora tarikode has been a cause of many accidents due to the pitiable condition of the road.
The junction has also turned into a traffic hazard due to movement of a large number of vehicles in the area. The presence of stalls (gaddas) most of which are illegal have only added to the chaotic situation in the area.
Angry locals slammed the State government and the local panchayat for failing in their duty to repair the road and save the blushes for the common man.
“We are destined to commute through this horrible road due to the apathy of the authorities concerned and an insensitive government that is not bothered about the common man,” they said.
