VALPOI:
The Bhumiputra Adhikari Bill passed by the government in the recently concluded assembly session is a big conspiracy for the upcoming assembly elections, said the Sattari locals.
The Sattari locals said that BJP tries to retain power through the back door by tempting people with the Bhumiputra carrot ahead of elections.
This Bill will not benefit Sattari taluka in any way.
The resolution to demand to the amendment of the Bill was made at an all-party conference, excluding BJP held in Valpai.
The press conference was addressed by Valpoi Congress Group Committee President Dashrath Mandrekar, Women President Roshan Desai, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party’s Suhas Naik, social activists Suresh Kodalkar, Devidas Gavkar and Vithoba Gaonkar.
Dashrath Mandrekar said that there are many errors in the approved Bill.
“It is necessary to amend the Bill. The Bill has been welcomed by some elements in Sattari taluka, which is a ridiculous thing,” he said.
The Bill is back-stabbing the Goans and encouraging migrants by giving them ownership rights, he said.
“Sensing that the electorate is against them, the BJP is now using tactics such as BHumiputra Bill to entice the voters,” he said.
Suhas Naik of MG Party said the Bill is passed without taking Bhumiputra into confidence.
“How can the government take such a decision. The BIll have to be withdrawn and re-introduced in the Legislative Assembly,” he said.
Women president Roshan Desai said the Bill would not benefit Sattari taluka in any way.
“The government has said that ownership rights would be given to up to 250 sq meters. There are a lot of errors in it, which needs to be corrected,” she stated.
