PANAJI: Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress on Friday attacked the BJP government over inflation and alleged that Narendra Modi government is looting the public by increasing prices and taxes.
GPMC President Beena Naik on Friday addressed a press conference and said that BJP, before coming to power in 2013, raised issues of price rise though the essential commodities were affordable then.
Zarina Shaikh, Salette Miranda, Berta Cardozo and Anuradha Naik were also present.
“Inflation not only affects Congress workers, but it affects everyone. 140 crores people from our country are made to suffer. Now the Prime Minister doesn’t speak about inflation, but is busy in looting the public,” Naik said.
She said that before coming into power, Narendra Modi was targeting Congress over price rise. “There is no need to tell how prices are doubled or have increased prices thrice a time,” she said.
“When BJP government boasts of a decrease in Wholesale Price Index, then why consumers have to pay more price for essential goods,” she questioned.
Beena Naik also said that the Modi government is looting people over fuel and LPG prices. “It has increased prices of vegetables and also of LPG. How people will live,” she questioned.
She said that the BJP government has failed to give solace to the public over inflation.
“Tomatoes have become so expensive. It is very sad that the government failed to control the prices,” she said.
