LOUTOLIM: In an unprecedented display of unity, Loutolim villagers gathered at the location, reiterating their resolve to fight a legal battle to defend their land and way of life.
PWD officials and their consultants abdicated their responsibilities by refusing to participate in the vital inspection and demarcation procedure pertaining to the proposed new Borim Bridge.
The villagers assembled at the location, unfazed by the warning, and continued to express their opposition to the project’s proposed land demarcation procedures. The officials were supposed to visit the village under police protection to start marking the boundaries for the proposed bypass road and new Borim Bridge, but they did not show up at the location.
The Loutolim Tenants Association’s chairman, Albert Pinheiro, told reporters that the continuous unrest is a determined attempt to protect their priceless agricultural land. He emphasized the villagers’ unwavering determination, saying that the protest will continue until real progress is made.
Our agricultural fields are under immediate threat from the proposed new Borim Bridge, a livelihood we are unwilling to give up. The inequity of moving forward without giving the objections adequate thought is highlighted by the relevant authorities’ failure to address them.
At this critical juncture, when everyone is engaged in cultivation, the authorities are upsetting the farming community, he said. The government, according to social activist and former Sarpanch Xavier Fernandes, is attempting to mislead the people of Loutolim about the current problem.
“The demarcation procedure was omitted by the officials twice previously. We’re not going to permit the government to build bridges across the fields. He declared, “The government ought to quit manipulating the feelings of the villagers and farmers.
