PORVORIM: As notified by the District Magistrate, North Goa, to begin with the second phase of the Elevated Corridor at Porvorim, traffic on NH 66 will be diverted from later tonight at Mall de Goa to take the road via Chhatrapati Shivaji Statue to proceed via an existing service road to further proceed towards Panaji.
Further, the work in the second phase will also be carried out from the starting point of Central Median at Sangolda Junction (Porvorim Bazaar) to up to 70 metres towards the Panaji side, leaving space of about 6 metres on either side of NH 66 for the use of vehicular traffic.
The second phase is part of a broader 5.2-kilometre elevated corridor project aimed at improving traffic conditions.
The six-lane highway, being built by Rajasthan-based Rajendra Singh Bhamboo Infra Private Ltd (RSBIPL), is expected to significantly alleviate daily congestion and offer a smoother commuting experience.
The project is scheduled to be my completed within 24 months, making this phase of the diversion plan crucial for its timely execution.
Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly and expect delays during peak hours.
Regular updates will be provided by the Goa Traffic Police, and additional signage has been placed to guide drivers through the new routes.
