CURCHOREM: Newly elected MLA Nilesh Cabral made history in the Curchorem constituency by winning the seat for the third consecutive time.
Although Cabral may have got hattrick, it is equally true that this victory was not up to the mark as it was secured with a narrow margin.
Revolutionary Goans Party candidate Aditya Desai made a significant impact in this election, securing 2103 votes contesting the first time for the assembly election.
Revolutionary Goans Party has practically made a difference in winning and losing margin in many ways in this assembly election.
One such example is the Curchorem constituency. Because of Revolutionary Goans Party, BJPs Nilesh Cabral just secured 600 leads against one of the new faces in politics: the Congress candidate Amit Patkar, who just got active 6 months before the elections.
On the other hand, this assembly election result in Curchorem raised many questions not about the defeat of Congress candidate Amit Patkar but about Nilesh Cabral, on where he went wrong in his calculation as in the last two assembly elections, his winning margin was very comfortable.
In this assembly election, Nilesh Cabral’s personal relationship with the common people helped him win.
Secondly, the Curchorem constituency has now become a strong base of BJP. Nilesh Cabral got good moral support from Mahila morcha, senior citizens, BJP workers, and the Xeldem panchayat area.
On the other hand, Amit Patkar’s positive points were that the strong family background of past, a new face and people wanted change.
Amit Patkar got Congress party tickets, and last five days, the wave says that other political parties backed Ami Patkar.
Some points that might have gone against Patkar are that he was not much familiar face to the voters compared to Cabral.
Patkar also failed to reach out to all people of the Curchorem constituency and built their personal rapport with them.
In the Curchorem assembly election result, Nilesh Cabral got 9973 votes, Amit Patkar 9301, Aditya Desai 2103, Gaberial Fernandes 830, Anand Prabhu Desai 313 and Ajay Boyer 51 votes.
