PANAJI: Expressing serious concern over the non-functionality of CCTVs at the GMC, AAP National Youth Wing Vice President Cecille Rodrigues requested immediate action from Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane.
In a video she posted on her social media platform, Rodrigues claimed that the GMC’s CCTVs have been inoperable for the past two years. She said, “Numerous complaints were made to the GMC’s technical department by the Police Outpost located there. But to date, nothing has been done”.
Rodrigues said, “Numerous robbery-related cases have recently been reported at the GMC hospital. Family members of patients have had their phones stolen overnight. There are even complaints of bike theft”.
She said, “People from faraway places seek medical care at GMC. Since they can’t travel daily, they sleep outside the wards and passage areas. Providing treatments and urgent healthcare is equally important as ensuring the safety of patients, their family members, and hospital staff in hospitals”.
“The police outpost located at the GMC is trying to address the robbery problem, but they are helpless as CCTV cameras are not fixed. We have heard reports of assaults against doctors. A patient could be assaulted. Therefore, CCTVs are crucial, and the technical issue should be resolved as soon as possible”, Rodrigues said.
