CANACONA: The 17th Sangeet Samelan of Canacona Kalakar Sangh will be held on Sunday 19th January at lata Mangeskar Bhavan’s Shri Sanjay Bandekar auditorium, in Chaudi Canacona.
The 17th Sangeet Samelan will be held for the first time in an auditorium as previously it was held in air-open stage arrangements. This 15th Sangeet Samelan was held in the premises of Shri Mallikarjuna Devalaya at Shristhal Canacona and 1st Samelan was held at the stage of Shri Parashuram Devalaya at Painguinim.
In association with the Department of Arts and Culture, Canacona Kalakar Sangh is organising this music festival in the memory of Pandit Govindrao Agni, the son of Canacona and Gantapaswini Anjanibai Lolyekar, the daughter of Canacona.
The Minister of Arts and Culture Govind Gawde was the chief guest for the opening ceremony of the festival, MLA and Speaker of Canacona Ramesh Tawadkar will Preside over the program. Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanawade will be the Special Guest, Canacona Municipal Council Chairperson Sara Shambha Desai as guest of honour, Councilor Ramakant Naik Gaonkar, Hemant Naik Gaonkar, Zilla Panchayat members Shanu Velip (Khola), Shobana Velip (Poinguinim), Convention President Ramakant Komarpant informed that the President of Artists Association Manuja Naik Gaunkar, General Secretary will be present. Harishchandra Kholkar, Treasurer, Satish Desai and Vice President Narayan Desai were president in a press conference.
On this occasion Ajit Painginkar, the founder member of the Kalakar Sangh will be specially felicitated, artists Shashikant Mhalshi, Gajanan Pagi will be felicitated and teachers Vijay Chari, Pratima Prabhudesai, Chandralekha Mestri who have received various awards from the government will also be felicitated on this occasion.
A souvenir will be released on this occasion. Pune Pt. Pramod Gaikwad and Shishya will perform a classical solo (shehnai) and Dr. Uday Kulkarni will accompany him on tabla.
11 am Opening ceremony, 12 noon. Classical singing by Pallavi Patil from Goa, this time she will be supported by Rohidas Parab (Tabla), Vasant Gaonkar (Harmonium), Wasim Khan (Sarangi). 4 p.m. The program will be organized by the Canacona Kalakhar Sangh. 5.15 pm Mayank Bedekar (Goa) and Omkar Dalvi (Pune) will perform Tabla and Pakhwaj Jugalbandi. Dattaraj will accompany Mhal on harmonium. Dattaraj Shetye (Tabla), Dattaraj Surlkar (Harmonium) will support Mansi is going to desert.
