PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today laid the foundation stone for the construction of new Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) building.
“I am very happy to lay foundation stone for this project. A new building was required for the CCP. The cost of the project is approximately Rs 75 crore,” said Sawant.
He further said that the project will be completed very soon and will be inaugurated.
CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate said that CCP will now get a state-of-the-art four-storied building with a basement.
“The proposed building for the CCP consists of the commercial enterprises and the Corporation’s technical and administrative offices besides providing for additional commercial spaces which will serve as a revenue generation avenue for the CCP for the next 100-odd years,” said Monserrate.
The basement that will exclusively be used for parking purpose has a provision for 180 cars.
On the ground floor, off-street parking has been demarcated for 72 cars. Additionally, there are 28 shops that have been allocated to the existing vendors.
“The first floor will house the office units. Altogether, 16 units have been reserved for shops/retail and 17 units are allotted for office spaces. Additionally, CCP office area is demarcated as a main hall,” he said.
The second floor has six shops/retail areas and 17 office premises. Additionally, an area has also been demarcated for the CCP office.
“The entire building is planned on a grid, hence is flexible in area to be allotted to corporate offices. The total built-up area of all floors is 14,712 square metres,” he said.
