PANAJI: Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has written to Sohan Zuwarkar who is the pay parking contractor to immediately commence collecting parking fees in Phase-1 in corporations jurisdiction.
“With reference to the above cited subject, this Corporation is in receipt of your Security Deposit @ 10% of the Bid/tendered amount and Bank Guarantee @ 60% as per the Bid/tendered amount,” the CCP order states.
CCP said that in view of the same you are hereby directed to commence the work of collection of Pay Parking Fees Phase -I at the designated areas within the Jurisdiction of this Corporation as per the terms and conditions of the Agreement.
The corporation has asked the contractor to deposit the license fee along with GST amount for the period from 15.08.2023 till 31.10.2023 in the Corporation Treasury and thereafter on monthly basis as per the agreement.
“The period of commencement would be applicable w.e.f 15.08.2023 to 14.08.2026 (3years),” he added.
In a previous ordinary CCP meeting, opposition councillors had alleged that the pay-parking contract was extended twice without proper procedures or discussion in the Corporation meeting. Mayor Rohit Monserrate had assured them that a special meeting would be convened to address and approve pay parking in designated areas.
