MARGAO: More issues appear to be on the horizon for the municipal employee who was detained by the Margao police in connection with the feast fair income misappropriation case, even though the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Margao has further prolonged the detention of Margao Municipal LDC Yogesh Shetkar to four days police custody.
Arjun Baliram Sutar, a Bambolim resident, filed a complaint against Yogesh with the Margao police on Thursday, alleging that he had betrayed his trust and committed fraud and deceit.
In his complaint, Sutar claimed that Yogesh, Director of Devrichtechnotics Future World Pvt. Ltd., had defrauded him of Rs. 1,05,000 by taking the money as an investment and promising him returns of Rs. 1,000 per day for a year, after which he would return the Rs. 1,00,000 investment.
Sutar claimed to have contacted Yogesh through a newspaper ad about his investment plan. He added that the investment amount was sent to Yogesh by bank transfer of Rs. 75,000 on May 30, 2022, and ii) Rs. 30,000 on July 10, 2022.
“Even though Yogesh had collected Rs. 1,05,000 in total, he only gave me a receipt for Rs. 1,00,000 and said the further Rs. 5,000 would be reimbursed later. On January 6, 2022, Yogesh subsequently signed a Memorandum of Understanding in front of the Advocate and Notary,” he stated.
“The promised amount of Rs 1000 per day was not paid to me after the 12-month locking period ended,” he continued. I thus kept going to Yogesh, who said that although there was a slight delay, I would receive the whole amount of the money as agreed. In his complaint, he said, “Even though more than two years and six months have gone by, I still haven’t received my profit or my Rs 1,05,000 principal back.”
