CANACONA/ PANAJI: Former GCA President Chetan Dessai is the front runner for the Congress Party Ticket from Canacona Constituency as the block has shortlisted three names for the upcoming elections.
The Canacona Block Congress Committee, at a meeting held in Srishtal today, recommended three names of Chetan Dessai, Jana Bhandari and Mahadev Dessai in the List for Congress Ticket in Canacona Constituency.
A meeting Attended by Congress Leaders M K Shaikh, Prakash Rathod and others was held in Canacona to discuss probable candidates.
In Velim, district president Joseph Dias (Joe) is the front runner as the block has shortlisted four names – Joseph Dias, Savita Mascarenhas, Benjamin Silva and Savio D’Silva.
In Cuncolim, the block has so far shortlisted just one name of Yuri Alemao. Elvis Gomes is another contender from the constituency for the party ticket.
