PANAJI: In response to the rising cases of dengue and cholera in Cutbona, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane today said that necessary instructions have been given to the Secretary of Health to hold review meetings with health officers to address the situation.
“In response to the rising cases of dengue and cholera in Cutbona, necessary instructions have been given to the Secretary of Health to hold review meetings with health officers to address the situation,” said Rane.
He further said that DMA has been directed to cooperate with the health department in monitoring and controlling the issue, ensuring that both departments work together effectively.
“Arrangements for patient care have been made at the district hospital and GMC, and awareness campaigns have been organized for the fishing labour community,” he added.
The minister also said that the FDA will conduct inspections of hotels, restaurants, and roadside vendors to ensure hygiene standards are maintained. To create awareness, DHS has distributed pamphlets on dos and don’ts, as well as ORS kits and antibiotics, to fishing trawlers.
Additionally, Rane said that open wells are being chlorinated by the respective health centres, and multiple meetings have been held with boat owners.
“Separate wards have been allocated for these patients at the district hospital, and the PHC teams are closely monitoring the situation daily,” the Minister informed.
Vishwajit also said that the health services have received full coordination from other departments, including the South Collector, Panchayats, Water Resource Department, Municipalities, and PWD. Following the instructions of the Chief Minister, we are committed to doing everything possible to keep the situation under control.
