PANAJI: The Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant, attended and addressed the participants of the Orientation Cum Training Programme for Councillors at Institute Menezes Braganza hall in the city today.
The trainee participants will visit the homes of 3181 Covid -19 affected people all over the State. The Directorate of Social Welfare, in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services, Women & Child Development, Education, Higher Education, had organized the training programme.
While addressing, the Chief Minister said that the pandemic of Covid was unexpected, leading to the untimely deaths of many people in the State.
The Government has decided to give ex-gratia relief of Rs.200’000 to the Covid affected families in the State. Among Covid affected people, most of them would need financial assistance or support, while the rest would need mental support.
Dr Sawant suggested to the counsellors to counsel wherever required, urged them to see what schemes could be provided for them, and kept following until they derive benefit from the scheme.
The task of rehabilitation of these Covid affected people is the most valuable job. He pointed out that this task is different from their routine work and needs to be accomplished with sincerity and affection.
