PANAJI: Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar today said that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has assured to appoint special Mamlatdar to clear Kul Mundkar cases in Mandrem.
Arolkar to submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister requesting to appoint special mamlatdars to dispose Kul Mundkar cases in Mandrem.
“Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has assured to appoint special Mamlatdar to clear Kul Mundkar cases in Mandrem. Today some investors are buying lands illegally in Mandrem,” said Arolkar after meeting CM
Arolkar also said that there is an urgent need to fast-track the Kul-Mundkar cases which are pending from the last 30 to 40 years.
He also said that there is need to make changes in the Tenancy Act and Mundkar Act to give justice to the tenant and mundkar who have got sandwiched between landlords and investors.
“This is a serious problem that requires immediate attention because the general public suffers when justice is delayed. This is one of the main problems that the state of Goa is facing, particularly the residents of the Mandrem constituency,” he added.
Arolakr also said that the Mundkarial Act and Tenancy Act were passed nearly 50 years ago, but their full implementation is still lacking. There are 276 tenancy declarations in Mandrem alone, and there are an endless number of Kul-Mundkar cases that are still pending in the state of Goa.
The MLA added, “I have appointed four lawyers who will process these cases free of cost,” in an additional appeal to the residents of the Mandrem constituency to file for mundkarial and tenancy rights. Only these attorneys should receive the files from people in order to assist them in obtaining their rights.
In addition, the MLA urged the populace to cultivate the fallow land and pursue their tenancy rights.
