SANKHALI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has assured pre-primary teachers in Goa that their long-pending demand for salary revision and other service benefits will be addressed by October.
The assurance was given during a meeting with representatives of pre-primary teachers at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhalim. Speaking to the media after the meeting, the teachers said they have been seeking improvements in their salary and service conditions for several years.
The teachers said around 3,000 pre-primary teachers are currently working in nearly 800 schools across Goa. Many of them have completed close to 20 years of service but claimed that their demands have remained pending despite repeated representations to the authorities.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said the government will shortly launch the CM Avas Yojana, aimed at ensuring that every Niz Goemkar has a house of their own.
Under the scheme, the government plans to make use of vacant flats available under various Housing Board and Rehabilitation Board schemes. The initiative is being planned with the objective of achieving the government’s vision of “House for All” in Goa.
The government is expected to work towards identifying eligible beneficiaries and utilising available housing stock to provide homes to those who do not have their own houses.
