PANAJI: The Aam Aadmi Party today slammed the Pramod Sawant Govt for being hand in glove with the centre & failing to put Goans first in the second wave. AAP pointed out that an artificial shortage of vaccines had been created for state Govts while private hospitals received stock so they can charge high rates for the vaccine.
To add insult to injury in the National GST council meeting yesterday Pramod Sawant opposed making life saving equipment and materials including vaccines tax free.
At a time when Goans are uniting to fight this pandemic the BJP is only trying to either add hurdles or make money out of our misery. The true translation of BJP’s motto Aapda main Avsar seems to be to make profits off the misery of Goans. The State’s free vaccination drive for 18-44 is nowhere to be seen. Meanwhile private hospitals charging exorbitant rates seem to have cornered the vaccine stocks.The lives of so many young people would have been saved if the BJP would not have done such a downright vaccine scam. Shortage of vaccines are only in government run establishments, private hospitals administering after getting a huge supply.
While Vaccines are in short supply, those who are suffering from Corona are also not safe from the BJP’s loot. Goans have been forced to get their own medications, oximeters, Oxygen Cylinders and even concentrators at home. In the GST council meeting AAP demanded that the Vaccine, Oxygen cylinders, Concentrators, Ventilators, Testing Kits, Oximeters, Sanitizers, PPE kits & Masks be declared tax free, but BJP CMs including Pramod Sawant vehemently opposed this stating that Corona Essentials must be taxed!
“I want to ask Pramod Sawant whether to him Aapda Main Avsar means scamming Goans of their money,” asked Rahul Mhambre. “Vaccines are our best tool to save lives and instead of standing up to the centre Pramod Sawant is letting Goan Youth either pay high prices or not get vaccinated at all. To top it all, at a time when young and old Goans alike are uniting to fight Corona, many by themselves with no state support Sawant is insisiting on taxing life saving materials. It’s time BJP stopped thinking about their pockets and started thinking about Goans.” added Mhambre.
