Panaji:The state government on Wednesday launched the “Taare Zameen Par” Mobile Digital Platinum and STEM Education Outreach Programme at PM SHRI School, Kumbharjua, in the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, along with senior education officials and dignitaries.
The programme was attended by MLA Rajesh Faldessai, Education Secretary Prasad Lolayekar, Director of Education Shailesh Zingre, and SCERT Director Meghna Shegokar, along with teachers and students.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the initiative marks a major step towards strengthening science and technology education in government schools. He said the mobile digital planetarium will help students experience space-related learning in an interactive way, bringing “the universe closer to classrooms.”
The initiative has been launched in collaboration with private partners and NGOs, aimed at promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education through experiential and inquiry-based learning methods. Officials said the programme aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, focusing on competency-based education and critical thinking.
The Chief Minister highlighted that teacher training remains a key priority, stating that continuous upskilling programmes have been conducted over the past three years. He added that educators are being trained through reputed institutions and technology partners to ensure modern teaching practices reach students effectively.
The mobile lab will also include digital science modules designed to improve curiosity, scientific temperament, and innovation among students, particularly in rural and government schools. Officials said the initiative aims to make learning more practical and engaging, moving beyond textbook-based education.
The government also signed an MoU with a foundation to further expand educational opportunities and help students make informed career choices. The Chief Minister said such initiatives will prepare students for future challenges and open pathways to careers in science, technology, and space-related fields.
