VASCO: Promoting Goan traditional vendors, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Monday appealed to Vascoites to buy local products only from Goan traditional vendors.
After his visit to the new Traditional Goan Vendors market, Sawant said he was here to promote the Vocal for Local initiative.
The Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar accompanied CM along with Vasco BJP Mandal President Deepak Naik, Mormugao Municipal Council MMC Chairperson Leo Rodrigues, City ward councillor Shami Salkar and other Councillors and BJP members.
“This market is to help traditional Goan vendors selling local products and bring them under one roof.
We are promoting various programs for 15 days to commemorate PM Narendra Modi’s birthday, and one such program is the Vocal for Local initiative to promote local selling local products,” he said.
He said teh Goans must come forward to support such locals.
“I appeal to all Vascokars to come to this market and buy products and support their business, and the local market can grow only if Goans support Goans,” said Sawant.
Salkar, speaking to reporters, said that under the Vocal for Local initiative, the BJP was planning to support the locals and even buy products from them to help them economically.
He said the government would have different programs, and CM has arrived to promote this market that is occupied by traditional Goan vendors who only sell local products.
“We appeal to all the people to help the senior ladies and women who are selling local products here by coming to this market so that we can encourage the local business,” said Salkar.
