PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today handed over appointments to 12 beneficiaries on compassionate grounds as special cases.
“The state government has been processing such cases through a routine process on a first-come, first basis, and accordingly, the appointments were handed. Now joint secretary informed that 499 such cases are pending,” said CM Sawant.
He further informed that if the case was accidental, the process of handing over appointments to beneficiaries took almost 5-6 years.
“When the incident of 3 lineman getting electrocuted happened, we wanted to give the appointments within 3 months, but it was not possible due to various hurdles,” said CM Sawant.
Sawant said that today we are handing over 12 appointments to various beneficiaries from the electricity department and other government departments.
“Goa govt will employ family members of 12 employees from various departments who have died while on duty. Family members of three electricity department employees who expired in an accident at Borim and 9 other employees who died on duty,” he added.
Speaking further, Sawant informed that Rs 123 crore has been disbursed to beneficiaries under various social welfare schemes, and the remaining Rs 15 to Rs 20 crore disbursal under Tribal Dept is pending; the same will be released today.
He said that of the 75,000 applications received from those carrying out traditional occupations in Goa, 45,000 have been found valid.
“Rs 5,000 have been transferred to the accounts of all these beneficiaries; the Govt has reached out to nearly 3.4 lakh families through these welfare schemes,” he added.
