PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday urged village panchayats to maintain complete financial transparency in development works and encouraged local bodies to adopt solar energy initiatives as part of the state’s green governance agenda.
Addressing a gathering, Sawant said all records related to panchayat expenditure and development projects should remain accessible so that any issues or questions raised during Gram Sabha meetings can be clarified with proper documentation.
The Chief Minister stressed that transparency in financial matters would strengthen public trust and ensure greater accountability in the functioning of village panchayats.
He also called on panchayats across Goa to install solar panels and promote the use of renewable energy in local administration. Sawant said the move would help transform villages into environmentally sustainable and energy-efficient “green Panchayats”.
According to the Chief Minister, the government is focusing on both transparent governance and sustainable development to improve grassroots administration across the state.
