Independent MLA Chandrakant Shetye urges govt state govt not to divert the money allotted to the farmers for another purpose

PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that compensation to farmers will be paid before 15 August.
Chief Minister was replying to questions raised by Bicholim MLA on farmers not receiving compensation from the state government.
“Their forms were received late. Now their subsidy and compensation will be released within two weeks that is before August 15,’ said CM Sawant.
MLA Chandrakant Shetye urged the state government not to divert the money allotted to the farmers for another purpose to which CM Dr Pramod Sawant said that a few cases which were received late are pending, and they will be settled soon.
Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik said that the objective of Crop compensation is to provide compensation to the farmers who suffer losses in agriculture due to the following reasons such as floods, Cyclonic rains, Landslide & Siltation, Epidemic pest & diseases, Unseasonal rains, Accidental Fire, Lightening, Earthquake and Wild Animals
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai said that the state government’s subsidy is just a mere 0,064% of GDP as compared to other states.
AAP MLA Venzy Viegas demanded that the support price for 14 farmers from the North and 476 from the South which is pending with Finance dept should be cleared immediately.
Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco demanded that the support price for the farmers should be increased. He also demanded Agriculture dept should look into the inundation of the paddy fields, and provide them with the subsidy again
