SANKHALI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today has exuded confidence that BJP backed panel will take control of the Sankhali Municipal Council in the upcoming polls.
“12 BJP-backed candidates for Sanquelim Municipality Elections will be announced by Friday. 50 % of the candidates will be old faces. Today 50% of candidates will be announced, and by Friday, all 12 candidates will be announced,” said Sawant.
He further said that there is scope for 6 new faces and was confident that BJP-backed candidates would gain a majority in the municipality.
BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade said that his party will win the Ponda and Sankhali Municipal Elections with a thumping majority.
“BJP karyakartas are reaching out to voters at ground zero under various outreach programs. BJP will win Ponda & Sankhali Municipal Elections with a thumping majority,” said Tanavade.
Sankhali Municipality is presently controlled by the Congress-backed Dharmesh Saglani panel.
Meanwhile, the High Court of Bombay at Goa dismissed a petition challenging delimitation and reservation of Sanquelim municipality. Court dismissed a similar petition regarding Ponda Municipality yesterday.
Elections for Sanquelim and Ponda Municipality will be held on May 5,
